Heads up, peeps! In celebration of the upcoming March 23rd release of Wicked Embrace, starting 2/21 – 3/20, my publisher is giving away 100 free ebooks of Wicked Dance. It’s a great way to get you started on this binge-worthy contemporary romance duet!
It’s done! The Chronicles of a Dancing Heart is complete and the feeling is indescribable. Eight years ago, I set out on this writing journey without a clue where I was headed. I simply sat at my computer, opened up a Word Doc, and started typing. I haven’t stopped since.
Now, I have two published books, one work-in-progress, and two other projects (potentially three) sitting on the sidelines. For a chick who up until a few years ago didn’t even have writing novels on her radar, I’d say that’s a pretty awesome accomplishment. So YAY me!!! And it’s totally acceptable to pat yourself on the back. Totally.
If I can give other aspiring authors one piece of advice, it’s to keep your eyes in-front of you and never look back. The number one lesson I’ve learned in this business has been never to compare myself to other writers. Easier said than done, I know. Truth is, you will never get ahead trying to walk in someone else’s shoes.
Others will be more successful while others will probably never even start their engines. You need to worry about one thing. You.
I now know—and accept—I am not the kind of author who can pump out five books a year. Not even three. At least not yet. I’m a one-book-per-year type of girl for now, and that’s ok. It really is. (And that’s just the writing part, by the way. Tack on another year for production).
I used to beat myself up about the amount time I would spend researching, re-writing, or listening to my characters hash it out in my head with zero words on paper to account for all the mayhem. Writers would be on their fourth and fifth book for the year, and I’d still be on my one measly book. Clearly, I wasn’t doing the writing thing right.
I’d made a choice. A personal choice. And at times, it was not a choice, but a directive from life. I have a 9-5, a husband, three busy boys, friends who refuse to let me become a hermit, and a body that tells me, “Hey, you. Quit it and get some sleep.” Staying up until 4am on a daily basis was deteriorating me. And nothing is worth destroying your health.
This is my path and mine alone. It may not be in line with the trends in the market. I will probably fall behind everyone else who is able to crank out books like they are a factory, but that is more than ok. It’s perfectly OKAY. The minute you find your path or writing rhythm, and you accept it, and own it, regardless of what that path may be, you’ll become a more patient writer. And a patient writer is a happy writer.
Be. Happy. That is all.
Come. Celebrate with me. The completion of CoaDH is not just a culmination of countless hours slaving over a keyboard. It is the realization of a dream I never knew I had, but one that has shaped me into the kind of person I always wanted to be.
A writer. Oorah!
KG Fletcher’s A Sun So Bright gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ well deserved stars!!! I had the special privilege of reading an advance copy and OMG OMG OMG. This book was EVERYTHING. A perfect NYE romance read. I’m a sucker for billionaire romances, but this time the girl is the wealthy snob in need of love, and Chris is the perfect man to give her exactly what she needs😉 This is a contracted-affair love story, so for those of you who like this trope, I highly recommend it.
This is book 3 in the Reigning Hearts series, and I will admit, I was a bit skeptical about it at first as this is Fiona’s story (she’s the villain in book 1), and as I didn’t like her that much in book 1, I wasn’t so sure I wanted to read her story. However, when it comes to authors I love, I tend to trust their instincts and decisions. I am so happy I gave myself the chance to read this story. Fiona has one of the best character redeeming arcs I’ve read in a while, and by the middle of this book, the Fiona I knew from book 1 had completely morphed into someone I wanted to know better.
There is so much to her than meets the eye. And isn’t that a story we are all familiar with? Sometimes people judge us by our appearances, and sometimes our actions speak for themselves. Fiona is proof of both. The last quarter of this book had me at the edge of my seat needing to learn what came next. The ending-twist was incredible, sweet, and tugged at all the heartstrings.
I loved Chris. He was the perfect hero for Fiona. He was proof that there is someone out there for everyone…that love can inspire change, and that ultimately, love does heal. Do yourselves a favor and read this remarkable story. While it is a standalone, you’ll appreciate Fiona’s transformation better if you read the first book in the series. You won’t regret it.
P.S This book had me wanting to escape to the country for a very romantic snowed-in getaway. A true gem.
Death Wish is the first book in the Reaper Reborn urban fantasy series by Harper A. Brooks. I was deeply entertained by this fun, action packed adventure. Jade Blackwell is a paranormal reaper who helps supernatural beings cross over after death. But we soon discover there is something more to who Jade is—or was before becoming a reaper.
As she goes about reaping souls, she is snared in a web of intrigue and betrayal. Hoping to cure her best friend from a deadly demon pregnancy, she teams up with a group of unlikely allies, including the sexy and arrogant, Cole Masters, a dangerous demon halfling with his own personal agenda. But as secrets are unraveled, Jade discovers she is a pawn in a much deeper scheme. Those closest to her might be her biggest threat.
Harper A. Brooks is a new-to-me author who has quickly become a favorite. Her writing is crisp and witty. Jade is a spunky and kick-ass heroine readers will connect to. The tension between Jade and Cole is electric, and the fast-paced action will keep you turning pages through the night.
I did a read/listen combo and loved both the ebook and audiobook. Eugenie Danglar did a phenomenal job narrating as Jade. She brought forth her humor and sassiness. I would highly recommend the audiobook.
While this book is part of a series, it does not end on a cliffhanger which is a plus for a lot of readers. However, the author does a great job at planting Easter eggs throughout the entire story, clearly paving the road for the rest of the books in the series. I’m definitely looking forward to the next installment, Death Trap, releasing August 2nd.
Hello from my writing tower! I’ve been a hermit for the last few months, making few social media appearances while I focused on finishing the second and last book of the Chronicles Of A Dancing Heart duet. I am thrilled to announce that the sequel to Wicked Dance is now complete and in the hands of my editor at The Wild Rose Press.
This book took me longer to complete than I expected. I needed it to feel right, and unfortunately, that sometimes means waiting for the muse(s) to talk. So to my loyal readers who have been waiting forever for the conclusion of this love story, thank you for sticking it out with me.
I poured my heart into this book. Sara and Tom wrecked me. Beyond wrecked me if I’m being honest. I borrow a lot from life, whether it’s from events that directly impacted me, or things I lived through people around me, I tap into those experiences to breathe life into my characters.
They feel very real to me because I live in their skin. Tom and Sara are imperfect people. They make mistakes and bad decisions like all of us at some point in our lives. When our heads and hearts are at odds, often times we end up doing and saying the wrong things. Sometimes we recover, other times, we live with regrets.
Theirs is a hard-earned HEA, but I believe having to fight for your happiness is the best way to truly appreciate what matters the most in our lives.
I seriously cannot wait for you guys to read this book. And hopefully, you will not have to wait too long.
A few days ago I received an email that literally made me squeal. The Ripped Bodice, the only exclusively romance bookstore in America, informed me Wicked Dance would be joining their shelves.
While my book has been out in the world since October 2017, and readers have been able to purchase print copies, there is something particularly special about having your book up on a real shelf. Especially, at a bookstore like The Ripped Bodice.
I am so happy and honored to have my book housed at this amazing store and I only hope to be able to visit them soon and meet the owners, Bea and Leah Koch.
So, if you are in the Culver City area, stop at The Ripped Bodice and check out their books! And if you happen to spot my book, take a selfie with it and tag me on Facebook or Instagram!
It’s been a while since I posted about books I’m reading. That’s partly because I’ve been busy working on the sequel to Wicked Dance … AND because I’ve been picking up books and not finishing them. I know, I hate DNFing books, but I just don’t have the time to put myself through the torture of reading through something I can’t connect with. I need the “feels” or it’s just not worth it. I also don’t think it’s fair to name those books. I don’t believe in giving a bad a review, so let’s just leave it at that.
Thankfully, I’ve finally found the book to get me out of my reading slump. KG Fletcher’s Georgia Clay is everything I’d been hoping for. I just started the book two days ago and so far I’ve struggled to put it down. This is the first book in her standalone Southern Promises series, and it’s positively beautiful. Katie and Clay reacquaint at their ten year high school reunion and sparks begin to fly. It’s such a relatable book and the characters are so well written it’s easy to fall in love with them. I can’t wait for her second book in the series, Georgia On My Mind, releasing June 11th! Go check her out!
